This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it. Psalm 118:24

With five people, four fur babies, baseball, school, work and everything else life can get pretty hectic!! This is just a small piece of our wonderful, crazy, fun-filled life....I wouldn't change it in the world!!!!

Psalm 118:24

This is the day the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.

True meaning of Easter

As I am preparing myself, my heart and my soul this week for Easter my co-workers were talking about what their children and grand children's Easter baskets were going to consist of.  I politely interrupted and said, "We don't do Easter baskets."  One co-worker looked at me in like I was crazy, she just couldn't fathom that I wasn't doing anything for my children for Easter.  Later that afternoon she approached me and asked, "Explain to me why you don't do Easter baskets?"  I simply explained that Christian holidays like Easter and Christmas are getting way to out of hand and everyone is missing the TRUE meaning.  Once again I received a look like I was in the wrong.  I thought to myself..........Am I the crazy one?? Should I be going all out for my child?? Then it hit "Nope Brande you are not."  Now don't get me wrong I have in the past.....done the whole dying eggs and big candy filled baskets thing, but in my heart I feel that I do not have to go along with society and waste money on eggs, dye, or candy that my children will have nothing to do with once it's said and done.  I need to be teaching them the TRUE meaning of Easter, so this week I will be reading the Easter story to my 8 year old, both he and I will be attending our churches Living Lord Supper and I will be watching The Passion of Christ (hope I can handle it).  As a parent it is my responsibility to show my children the right way and the wrong way, it's my responsibility to show them how to live the Christian life and to love God with all their heart and all their soul.  I pray to God that I am leading them in the right direction and that one day, when the time is right, that they too will open their hearts to Jesus.

John 11:25-26
Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die.

Romans 1:4-5
And Jesus Christ our Lord was shown to be the Son of God when God powerfully raised him from the dead by means of the Holy Spirit.  Through Christ, God has given us the privilege and authority to tell Gentiles everywhere what God has done for them, so that they will believe and obey him, bringing glory to his name.

1 Peter 1:3
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead...

On Easter Sunday we are to celebrate the resurrection of our Lord, Jesus Christ.  Jesus paid the penalty for our sins in return gave all who believe in Him, eternal life in Christ Jesus.
THIS IS WHAT I WILL BE TEACHING MY CHILDREN!!!
