2 John 1
1 The elder,
To the lady chosen by God and to her children, whom I love in the truth—and not I only, but also all who know the truth— 2 because of the truth, which lives in us and will be with us forever:
3 Grace, mercy and peace from God the Father and from Jesus Christ, the Father’s Son, will be with us in truth and love.
4 It has given me great joy to find some of your children walking in the truth, just as the Father commanded us. 5 And now, dear lady, I am not writing you a new command but one we have had from the beginning. I ask that we love one another. 6 And this is love: that we walk in obedience to his commands. As you have heard from the beginning, his command is that you walk in love.
7 I say this because many deceivers, who do not acknowledge Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh, have gone out into the world. Any such person is the deceiver and the antichrist. 8 Watch out that you do not lose what we have worked for, but that you may be rewarded fully. 9 Anyone who runs ahead and does not continue in the teaching of Christ does not have God; whoever continues in the teaching has both the Father and the Son. 10 If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, do not take them into your house or welcome them. 11 Anyone who welcomes them shares in their wicked work.
12 I have much to write to you, but I do not want to use paper and ink. Instead, I hope to visit you and talk with you face to face, so that our joy may be complete.
13 The children of your sister, who is chosen by God, send their greetings.
Service yesterday at church was wonderful, I wish Christian would have been sitting with us to hear this message and this is something that as a mother I am going to continue to work on since my child looks up to me. Verse 4 stands out to me stating.....
"It has given me great joy to find some of your children walking in the truth, just as the Father commanded us." I want more than anything not only with Christian but with the girls is that people can be around them and see and feel the love for Christ they have, and see them as good Christian children. Being a new Christian I am still learning myself so it's extremely hard for me to teach Christian and the girls the right way to follow God. In my heart I feel I am doing the best that I can but sometimes that is not enough, we all make mistakes. So from here forward I am going to step up my game so my children KNOW how about God and how to act as a Christian. I want them to know that EVERYONE makes mistakes and commits sin but we have to ask for forgiveness when we do and try our best not to do it again. The Second Beatitude states....
Blessed are they who mourn, for they shall be comforted." as a Christian we should mourn because we have realized that we sinned against God and brought dishonor to his name. Like in the prodigal son story in Luke 20 where the young man comes back home after living a life of sin and tells his father,
"Father, I have sinned against God and against you. I am not worthy to be called your son. Just make me a servant of yours at the lowest rank, for I need to be comforted. Save me, for I am lost." I want my children to realize like the young man did that they too are lost and that it is better to live with Christ in your heart. I hope and pray that God and show me the right way to raise my children. What better day than Mother's Day for this to really hit home with me!
